The President signed into law the Wall Street Reform and Consumer conserveion Act of 2010, which puts in place the strongest consumer financial protections in history, including the creation of a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau led by Elizabeth Warren.

Despite this progress, certain inequalities persist. The income for the typical American woman is still only about 78 cents for every dollar of the median income for the typical man, and women are still vitally underdescribeed in the science, engineering, and technology fields.
