ide my purse, on my key ring, I have a Kroger rewards card, CVS, Coney Island, American Eagle, Panera Bread, DSW, Dick's Sporting Goods, and my personal favorite, Border's Book Store rewards card. So, when I make a purchase, I build up points toward a reward (coupon, discounts, />
My trip to rewards card fantasy land goes like />
I step up to pay for my load of items at CVS Drug Store and the clerk scans my rewards card. "Gee Ms. Bahs, since you've spent $300 in the last quarter, you get $15 deducted from your total today." Cool [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]! That's like finding money in my pocket that I didn't know I had! I leave the store feeling great and make a mental note to go back soon.
Instead here's how it really />
I step up to pay for my load of items. "Gee Ms. Bahs, you get rewards coupons today." The clerk hands me a 10 foot long single piece of receipt paper with various different coupons one after the other ($2 off hair product, $1 off beauty supplies, etc.). I grab the receipt, stuff it into the bag of items and wonder when in the world am I going to find the time to examine each of the 6 coupons, look at the expiration date, cut them up [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and store them so that they are actually in my wallet when I need them, before they expire? I don't know about you, but I'm way too busy to be that organized. Maybe when I'm retired? I leave the store feeling bad about not taking advantage of all the savings that I could be.
Borders book store scans my card and then emails me a coupon and you guessed it, I have to print out the coupon on a piece of PAPER. Although, I have to admit, I found one Borders that will scan the coupon on my phone, thus, eliminating the need for me to print the coupon. YES!!!
Rewards cards are electronic. Can't we keep the reward simple and create some warm fuzzies for the consumer [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rather than feelings of organizational inadequacy? And besides that, I'm a paperless, automated gal. I'm busy promoting the elimination of paper checks, and they're using more paper than ever with their receipts and coupons. Please share if you have a similar story.
