China bans inexperienced reporters from covering securities,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], futures news
China has issued a set of regulations to ban disqualified columnists and inexperienced reporters from reporting on securities and futures,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) said in a statement Friday.
Newspapers and publications are required to verify the credentials of organizations and columnists before publishing their commentaries and analyses on securities and futures,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the regulations jointly issued by the GAPP and the China Securities Regulatory Commission say.
Journalists must have either worked in securities and futures organizations or covered finance and economics for at least two years before they report on securities and futures,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], according to the regulations that take effect Feb. 1.Interns at media organizations are banned from reporting on securities and futures.
The regulations have been issued to protect the legitimate interests of investors and the public,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], according to the GAPP statement. The regulations urge newspapers and publications to "take caution" when covering news that may undermine market stability.
They also urge newspapers and publications to verify the authenticity of important policies and information of regulatory bodies.Furthermore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], newspapers and publications are asked to check whether advertisers are qualified securities and futures information service providers before accepting their advertisements for software and information service products.
China's Ministry of Public Security has launched a three-month campaign to crack down on the manufacturing and selling of fraudulent seeds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pesticide and fertilizers.
"Seeds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pesticide and fertilizers are the basic materials for farmers' work. Fake farm products not only result in the reduction of output or even crop failure,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but also are likely to cause environmental pollution,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Vice Minister Liu Jinguo said Friday at a meeting.
Prior to the campaign,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], police across the country had already solved 38 cases of manufacturing and selling fake seeds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pesticide and fertilizers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which involved about 15 million yuan (2.2 million U.S. dollars),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], figures from the ministry show. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Liu noted that the situation was still grave as huge profits lured more people to commit such crimes and farmers usually were not aware of protecting their own rights.
Further,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Liu urged the country's police to spare no effort in dealing with every case,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], regardless of how much money is involved,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and protect farmers' rights "as best as they can."The move is part of a national campaign to crack down on the violation of intellectual property rights (IPRs) and the production and distribution of fraudulent and shoddy products.
