As Finkel spoke, Flores begged Cunis to allow him to speak, stomping his feet and biting his lip to hold back tears.

Finkel added that Flores has been married for three years and has not had any legal trouble since his arrest.

There's also the issue of money. Not only do those who serve aboard the Africa Mercy volunteer their time, but they also have to pay about $550 a month in room and board. Plus the airfare to get to wherever the ship is docked.
